In 1992, a group of teenagers lead by then 23 year old flmmaker Ricardo Islas, got together to make a movie. The result was "Plenilunio", a werewolf movie shot with a SVHS camera, and zero budget. The movie premiered in the Cinemateca International Film Festival, and won the First Prize in 1994. Since then, the movie went on to win other international awards, and became a cult phenomenon that has inspired generations of Latin American filmmakers who saw it was possible to make movies with passion, even in absence of resources or any money at all.
