HELLRAISER (1987 Teaser Trailer)
This is the teaser trailer for the 1987 supernatural horror movie, "Hellraiser", written and directed by Clive Barker, who adapted the movie from his own 1986 novella "The Hellbound Heart". The movie would kickstart a movie franchise that endures to this very day with nine additional sequels (three released theatrically and the other six straight to video). Even though the character is credited as "Lead Cenobite", actor Doug Bradley's portrayal of the cenobite Pinhead (which he would play in 7 more movies) would become a favorite of horror fans everywhere and would allow the character to be mentioned in the same breath as Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Chucky and so on.
"Hellraiser" tells the story of Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman), a criminal and sexual sadist who is looking to experience pleasure in a new way. He purchase a puzzle box known as the Lament Configuration, which the merchant tells him that he may get what asked for. Some time later, he returns to the home of his dead mother in England and in the candle lit attic, Frank solves the puzzle box. Hooks and chains them emerge from the box and plunges into Frank's flesh, tearing him apart. Afterwards, a black robed figure finds the remnants of Frank's carcass and restores the opened puzzle box back to it's original state, also returning the attic to its' previously normal state.
Years later, Frank's brother Larry (Andrew Robinson) moves into the house to repair his relationship with his second wife Julia (Clare Higgins), who had a torrid affair with Frank, shortly after they were married. Larry's teenage daughter Kirsty (Ashley Laurence) refuses her father's offer of moving into the house with them, and instead, gets her own place.
While carrying a bed upstairs, Larry injures his hand on a nail and lets the blood drip on the attic floor. The blood reanimates Frank's skinless corpse, which is soon discovered by Julia. Still obsessed with Frank, she agrees to harvest blood to him by bringing home men she seduced to come to her house, so Frank can feed. He then admits that he had exhausted all sensory pleasures before he found the box, which was rumored to be a portal to new carnal pleasures. Once he opened it, he was taken into another dimension by a group of "explorers" named Cenobites, that would subject Frank to extreme forms of sadomasochism.
In the moment that would change her young life forever, Kirsty spies Julia bringing a man to the house. She makes the mistake of catching Frank in the act of feeding, and throws the puzzle box out of the window in order to create a distraction to escape.
After collapsing, Kirsty awakens in a hospital room with the puzzle box. After solving the box, she summons a monster called the Engineer, which she barely escapes from, only to be cornered by the Cenobites. The group's leader, later nicknamed Pinhead (Doug Bradley) explains to Kirsty about being explorers from another dimension seeking carnal pleasures, with pain and pleasure indivisible to them.
They try to force Kirsty to return to their realm with them, but she makes a deal with Pinhead to be spared in exchange for leading them to Frank, who escaped their grasp. Pinhead only agrees to the terms if he hears Frank confess his misdeeds himself.
