Melvin Ferd is a frail man who works as a janitor in a health club in the fictional town of Tromaville, New Jersey. Certain people constantly bully him in the club, and one day, the bullying leads Melvin to jump through the second floor into a pile of toxic waste. He transforms into a hideous monster, but a benevolent one who starts to fight crime in Tromaville, and he is dubbed as the Toxic Avenger by the locals. In his quest, he saves a young blind girl from many goons trying to assault her. The girl and our hideous superhero instantly hit it off and fall in love but eventually, a bad politician accuses him of killing a seemingly innocent woman and calls the national guard to hunt him down. Later, he goes on to fight a nefarious corporation, the Chairman of which turns out to be Satan himself. Well, that’s more or less the life of Toxic Avenger, our Monster Hero. The first film was released in 1984 and since then has garnered three sequels, a cartoon show, and even Marvel Comics. One of the films even had a cameo from the likes of Stan Lee and James Gunn. We will also explore the upcoming Toxic Avenger film that’s supposed to cast a Game of Thrones star and also Frodo Baggins if you remember who he is. So, let us, deep dive, into this franchise which took and twisted the horror and superhero genre and blended them both to produce something entirely new and unseen.
