Ideas have a longer shelf-life than humans. They survive by being passed on from one generation to the next. But then again, so are myths and legends. Perhaps, at the end of the day, that’s what they are: ideas. And no other genre takes abstract ideas and explores them better by presenting a tangible form of it, than horror.
Perhaps the best horror stories are those which present an amalgamation of ideas and gore that makes us squirm while we’re watching it, but also have an aftertaste that makes us think for days. And Bernard Rose’s Candyman did exactly the same thing when it was released back in 1992.
