’s ‘The Howling’ was an exciting project that was loosely based on the source material. It was credited by many for revolutionizing werewolf movies for the audience. This movie was released in 1981 and it was quite a successful venture. However, ‘An American Werewolf in London’ was released the same year, and it stole much of the thunder from ‘The Howling’. Nevertheless, it was still a profitable release, and the tidy gains made sure that sequels were soon along the way.
Unfortunately, the quality downgraded quite drastically, and the franchise was soon reduced to a painful continuation, through the halls of horror infamy. The budgets were steadily decreasing as was public interest, and yet, the sequels kept coming one after another.
